Location: Laos ~ Burma ~ Thailand
Lao People's Democratic Republic Laos is a small country in South East Asia, it is pronounced "Lao" with an "ow" sound like the exclamation "wow." A lot of the English spellings in the country were done by the French, so they might not seem intuitive to American or British English speakers.
There are about 6.5 million people, with a very sparse population in most areas outside of the capitol. Much of the land is rolling mountains, or rice fields, and when going down the highways most of the civilization that you see are villages of small hand made wooden houses.
This is the flag Laos adopted in 1975, when the present government came to power. It's official name is Laos People's Democratic Republic, or Lao PDR. Also pictured is the Coat of Arms.
Laos is land locked, it's sandwiched between Thailand to the west and Vietnam to the East, with it's toes touching Cambodia and it's head meeting China and Myanmar.
The cities with red stars are the ones that I plan to eventually have articles completed for, so far Luang Prabang is completed. So, get traveling!
